Hello,

Let me begin by saying this is a great module.  It is very helpful.  I am new to Website Baker but I like it very much.  I can't get the event description to show up.  I check my MySql DB and the 'event_desc' never makes it in the db.  Do you have any ideas why?  I also had the same problem with the earlier version of this module.  Everything else works ok.  All of my permissions are set correctly in the DB.

Thanks for your help in this.

Ok I added an event with a five day time limit, the four days after today were added no problem. Any ideas?

There is also a special version of the event calendar.

This is specially created for cyberjoker.

It is called Cabin Rental Calendar, it is made for renting out a room or cabin.

The differents are:
- It displays all the days in the month
- No link option The location is used to give a color (green for not rented and red for rented)
- The empty days description is a link to 1 default page ( like a form page )
- event days it last is upgraded to 21 days

You can download it here cabin.zip

A test page is here.

Nice work, thanks!

Can anyone tell me how to change the date format? I would rather it to be:

MM/DD/YYYY

Thanks

That option is not coded. I only ceated the option Day-Month-Year or Year-Month-Day.

If you want this you need to edit several files on several places.

If you really want this I can do it for you.

It would be a nice option for us stubborn Americans. If you are able to make it an option that would be very much appreciated.

New Version: 1.21b

You can download it here: event_v1_21b.zip

How to upgrade from 1.21 to 1.21b:
There is no database change so unzip and place the files in /modules/event/ directory.

 Version 1.21b
 Whats New (Bennie Wijs 2005/07/19)
  + Changed the date format selection to dropdown box and added Month-Day-Year to the list

 Version 1.21
 Whats New (Bennie Wijs 2005/06/21)
  + Added option to tell how many days a event has and it will create the extra days (Max 7 days)
  - Added date switching also for view all events

Is there a way to call the events to another page?  An example would be to have an "events" page, but maybe like on the homepage, it pull like the next 5 events and display them?

I wasn't sure if this was a possibility or not.

Possible yes, made no.

Basicely you can write some php code for it. the data is in mysql.

I will think about it.

Well here is a code snipet.
This code displays the next 5 days.

You can make a section page and select module code and past this in.
Only have 1 problem. inside the code I give up the page and section id of the event page to get the data. Do not know how to get this info a other way.

You can properly paste this code inside your template ( have not tested that ) aswell

Code:

$page_id = 8;
$section_id= 8;
require(WB_PATH.'/modules/event/language.php');

$query_content = $database->query("SELECT * FROM
".TABLE_PREFIX."mod_event_settings WHERE section_id = '$section_id'");

if($query_content->numRows() > 0) {
$fetch_content = $query_content->fetchRow();
$date_view = $fetch_content['date_view'];
}

$today = date("Y-m-j");
$month = date("m");
$day = date("j");
$year = date("Y");
$theday = mktime (0,0,0,$month ,$day+6 ,$year);
$lastday=date("Y-m-d",$theday);

echo "<center>";
echo " ----- Listing Next 5 days of Events + Events Today ----- <BR>";
$query_dates = $database->query("SELECT * FROM
`".TABLE_PREFIX."mod_event_dates` WHERE section_id = '$section_id' && date
>= '$today' && date < '$lastday' order by date");

while($result = $query_dates->fetchRow()) {
  $alt2date=$result['date'];
  if ($date_view == 1 ) {
    list($a2year, $a2month, $a2day) = split('[/.-]', $alt2date);
    $altdate=$a2day."-".$a2month."-".$a2year;
  } elseif ($date_view == 2 ) {
    list($a2year, $a2month, $a2day) = split('[/.-]', $alt2date);
    $altdate=$a2month."-".$a2day."-".$a2year;
  } else { $altdate=$alt2date; }

   echo $altdate." Event: ".$result['event_desc']."<BR>";
}
echo "</center>";

You can see a demo here.

I need to think about how to get the next 5 event-days.
The problem is that you can have several events on 1 day.

Just testet event_v1_21b.zip.

It doesn't save neither my Event-Name nor my Link Sad

And, one idea, it would be better after inserting/editing an entry, that it would display the calender-site again for inserting more events, not the admin/pages/index.php.

And, one other problem ist the html-code, it's not valid Sad

@Ruebenwurzel: Hast du diese Version auch übersetzt? Wink

@beate

Thank you very much for the calender module!
I want to use it for a company who sells tickets for events www.evenemententickets.nl/wb
I made some changes in the view.php and the css (although some things are a bit difficult to figure out - see my later remarks)

I have a few remarks and ideas so the calender module can be used in more situations.

First a agree about the remarks about the language file (($TEXT['DATE'] is used in the script, but not in the language file for instance) and the html code (i find it difficult to align everything to the left so all parts align under each other and i couldn't find a way to remove the underlining under the today link).

A nice (and probably not so difficult to implement) option would be if there would be a choice in the settings that it is only possible to look forward and not backward in time (in a lot of cases, for instance in my example and calenders for artists and bands that is not necessary and can be confusion for visitors)

In stead of showing one month and the possibility to show all events an option in the settings where you can choose to show all events (or the events of a whole year) presented in the same way as the monthly events are now (so including the link option).

use the link option a more than one way. So it can go to another website but it can also be used to give more information about the event (for instance expanding like the news module). This can also be an extra field so the link is to go to another website and there is a field for more info (this can expand or go to another automatically created page).

For last (but this may be more difficult to implement) it would be nice to set up more fields to show (for instance a field for location etc etc).

So no critics but only remarks to make the module can be used in more cases. I know we can make hacks (unfortunately not be me because i don't have any php-knowledge........yet) but i think it is better to improve the original module than all kind of hacks. I see that more for other modules and i is very difficult to figure out which of these things are already in the wb-core and what are the latest versions of modules etc.

New Version of Event-Calendar released

Whats new:
+ Added some lines to language.php. The Modul is now 100% multilingual (I hope  wink)
+ Uninstall now deletes Search Table Entries
# Cleaned the html-code ( there was a little bit confusion with <table>, <tr> and <td>  huh)
# Minor changes in view.php

How to update:
There are no database changes so you can unzip it and place the files in /modules/event if you already have older version installed.

Edit:
look at completed modules for the latest version.

sorry, sad

I forgot, there are no changes in the tables, so the easiest way to update is unzip the new-event-modul and copy the files over the old files in modules/event. ( Be sure you have write permissons to this files )

Have fun

P.S. I've updatet my post before
