« on: April 24, 2008, 08:26:58 PM »

Hello,

we are proud to announce the release of Website Baker 2.7.0 (stable).

Website Baker 2.7 is the most important release since WB 2.6. It introduces about 10 new features that leverage the quality of Website Baker to an upper level.

WB 2.7 is the first release completely developed by community members and the attempt to expand the development effort of Website Baker for the public.

Download Website Baker 2.7 (stable)
At the moment the Website Baker 2.7 installation package can only be downloaded from the Website Baker start site.
We will add the installation package to http://download.websitebaker2.org in the next few days.

Website Baker 2.7 - new installation
Download the installation package, unpack it on your local computer and upload all files to your webspace. Then run the installation wizard as described on the WB help site: English, German, Dutch

Note: Remember to delete the installation folder /install and the file upgrade-script.php after the installation. It is not required to run the the upgrade script if you do a clean installation.

Upgrading from an existing WB 2.6.7 installation
Detailed information about the upgrade process can be found on the WB 2.7 help site: English, German, Dutch.

Note: Remember not to overwritte your existing config.php file when upgrading from an previous Website Baker version. If you are still running a Website Baker version 2.5.x, you need first to upgrade to WB 2.6.7.
You can download older WB versions from here

Upgrading from WB 2.7 RC1/RC2/RC3/RC3a
In general it is possible to upgrade from an existing WB 2.7 RC by uploading all files except the installation folder /install and the config.php file .7 over your existing installation. Then re-run the upgrade-script.php to do the required database changes.

Note: All database settings regarding admin tools, WB settings etc. will of course be replaced with default values during this process. This is due to the fact that we decided not to write a new upgrade script for upgrading from 2.7 RCs.

All customized files (FCK settings, frontend.css / backend.css stuff) will be overwritten while uploading the new files via FTP, so you have to take care not to overwrite them or to make a backup of those files before.

As we have changed the creation of the pages file names (WB 2.7 RC file names were created from the page-title, now it will be created from menu-title) you may run into an issue with pages using different settings for page-title and menu-title. Best would be to save all pages via the WB backend to convert those back if required.

I would like to thank the development team members: thorn, ruebenwurzel, escpro, swen for making WB 2.7 happen.

Have fun with Website Baker 2.7
Regards Christian

Hello,

the error message was caused by the fact that you visited the Website Baker project start site just in the moment we updated the project site to WB 2.7. Update is finished, so the download should work again.

I've tried that and no change.

I'm using both swedish and english browser, with autoselect encoding.

The direct link you wrote give me the right page.
But there is something strange with this.
The address www.websitebaker.org just give me a blank page.

hi guys

I'm using website baker quite a long time now and it really is the best open source cms there is. 2.7 has some really nice new features, but guys ... the layout of the backend is awful, terrible, appalling, dreadful, horrible, terrifying, frightful, terribly, horribly, ... we really should do something about that Smiley i would be happy to help.

There are proposals for improved backend designs which we may implement with a next release. However, feel free to create your proposal of an alternate backend design and post it in this thread.

Isn't it about time you updated the DOWNLOAD- link at the top menubar of this site? It still links to old versions.
Version 2.7 is only downloadable from the homepage of this site.

Hello,

we are currently in the phase of reworking the download section. For example it does not make too much sense to offer downloads for the outdated WB version below 2.6.7 etc.

Once we have re-organized things, we have removed the download link from the top menues and added a redirect which points to start.websitebaker2.org.

Sorry if i missed the answer to this:

1 is there an easy way to know which module addons will work with v2.7 ?

2 if not, is there instructions for module conversion ?

it would be great to see some extra info listed with each module in the addons sections that states what versions the module is compatible with  smiley

thanks in advance.

Hello,

all official modules from the addons page should work with WB 2.7. The unsupported and unofficial Modules (you find attached here in the forum) you have to test. Basically if they don't work correct in WB 2.6.x versions they also do not work correct in WB 2.7 and on ther other hand most of them wich work in WB 2.6.x should also work in WB 2.7.

Is there a thread where we can ask post-upgrade questions, or is this the best place to do so?  I updated a production site and everything seems to be working, except I don't see the admin tools link in the backend, which makes administering site options quite difficult (but the public side works just fine).

EDIT: if I try to access the admintools folder manually (logged in, of course), I get the following message:

"Insufficient privelliges (sic) to be here"

Again, great job, guys!
